Leo Dale Ackerman, 76, of Goff, KS, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Medicalodges of Jackson County in Holton, KS. He was born December 21, 1943 in Vermillion, KS the son of Vern Dale and Mary (Montague) Ackerman.

Leo was as a farmer in Vermillion most of his life. After farming, he worked construction for Bill Bruns & Sons, BMB, and helped Jerry Segenhagen with various jobs all in Holton. Leo later worked for Clark Chevrolet as an auto detailer for 9 years.

He enjoyed collecting toy tractors with his brother Delbert but most of all, Leo loved spending time with his family and friends.

Leo was united in marriage on August 9, 1984 to Cynthia Louise Olds in Holton, KS. They shared 35 years of marriage; she survives of the home.

Other survivors include 1 daughter, Barbara L. Rice (Chris) of Goff, KS; 4 sons, Lavern D. Ackerman of Washington, KS, Lavon F. Ackerman, Loren J. Ackerman of Lincoln, NE, and William D. Ackerman of Holton, KS; 1 sister Fay Downy of Marysville, KS; 1 brother, Delbert Ackerman (Lois) of Netawaka, KS; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Jerry L. Ackerman and Brian Olds; 1 sister, Polly White; and 1 brother, Eldon Ackerman.

Family will greet friends from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. A private family burial will be at a later date at the Vermillion Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Leo D. Ackerman Memorial Fund to help with funeral expenses c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
