Mr. Ernest William Hackey, 94, of 124 S. Market St., Frederick, died Thursday, Dec. 26, at Reeder’s Memorial Nursing Home, Boonsboro. He was the husband of the late Virginia Frederick Hackey. Born Jan. 15, 1891, in Doubs, he was a son of the late Frank and Drucilla Wade Hackey. Mr. Hackey was of the Baptist faith, and had been a farmer’s helper in Frederick County.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Violet Kines of Cumberland, Mrs. Margaret Slaughter of Frederick, Miss Gladys Hackey of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Blanche Duvall, Frederick; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Snowden and Mrs. Florence Gray, both of Frederick; one brother, Frank Hackey, Lewisdale, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hackey will repose at the First Missionary Baptist Church on All Saints Street after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29. The family will receive friends at the church from 7-8 p.m. The family will be in mourning at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Slaughter, at 110 McMurray St. Funeral services will be held Monday at the church at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wallace Poole officiating. Interment will be held in Resthaven Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by C.E. Hicks III.
