Dana William Jarrett, age 60, of Mt. Nebo, WV, died peacefully October 8, 2013 at his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice after a courageous 10 month battle with cancer. He was born January 21, 1953 in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Cam and Bertha Sampson Jarrett. On May 5, 1990 he married Judy Hinkle who survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his mother-in-law, Garnett Hinkle of Buckhannon, WV; three daughters, Alicia Foster and companion Chuck Dean of Orlando, WV, Deirdre Grogg and husband Benjamin of Grafton, WV and Deanne Carr and husband Brian of Buckhannon, WV; two sons, Trenton Gum and companion Lisa of Morgantown, WV and Seth Gum and wife Twyla of San Diego, CA; one granddaughter, Shyann Foster of Orlando; four grandsons, Dylan Foster of Orlando, Randall and Gunner Grogg both of Grafton and Wyatt Gum of San Diego; three sisters, Patricia Hissam and husband Darrell and Sandra Jarrett all of Buckhannon and Debbie Jarrett of Weston, WV; several nieces and nephews and best friend, Rick Day and wife Barb of Buckhannon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Gene Jarrett and father-in-law, Gerald Hinkle.

Mr. Jarrett was a batch mixer at Corhart Refractories and a member of the United Steel Workers of America for 26 years. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and a member of Sand Run Baptist Church. He was an avid Harley Rider and outdoorsman and had a deep love for God, country and family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He was also a great Civil War buff.

Friends will be received from 11 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Sand Run Baptist Church at Excelsior, WV, where a funeral service will be held 1 PM with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. At Mr. Jarrett’s request he will be cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date.
