Mary Knavel, age 86, passed away March 4, 2020 at her home in LaHarpe, Kansas.

Mary was born February 7, 1934 to John Mapes and Evelyn Connor in LaHarpe, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Moran, Kansas. In 1950, she married Richard M. Knavel and moved to Iola, Kansas where they made their home. Their union was blessed with 9 children. They later moved to LaHarpe, Kansas in 1969. She worked as a finisher for Miller Dress Factory in Iola the majority of her working career.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard M. Knavel; two sisters, Ann and Rita Vest; three brothers, Johnny Mapes, Clifford “Bud” Mapes, and George “Jim” Mapes; and several grandchildren.

Mary is survived by six sons, three daughters and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at LaHarpe Cemetery in LaHarpe, Kansas.

Memorials in honor of Mary are suggested to Shriner’s Children's Hospital and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
