Elizabeth Ellen “Betty” Marquette of Plano, Texas passed away on March 2, 2020 at the age of 87. She was born on July 16, 1932 to Harry Reed and Gladys Leota (McDaniel) Nelson in Cameron, Missouri. Betty grew up in Cameron, Missouri where she attended school and graduated from Cameron High School in 1950. She married Robert Marquette, Jr. on July 12, 1952 in Cameron, Missouri. Betty worked for Kaiser Permanente as a customer service representative for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taught them all to play the family game of Rook. She also loved cooking for her family, with her famous banana bread loved by all. She loved playing bridge and also enjoyed sewing and cleaning. She was very proud of her family heritage and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames.

Betty is survived by her husband, Bob Marquette, Jr. of Plano, Texas; children, Deborah Elizabeth Garvin and husband, Timothy of Melissa, Texas, Diane Leigh Shumway and husband, John of Suwanee, Georgia, Robert Nelson Marquette of Fargo, North Dakota, and Michael Richard Marquette and wife, Nancy of McKinney, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Gladys Nelson; brothers, Glen Harry Nelson and Richard Nelson; and sister, Irene Chrisman.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, Texas.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Suncreek United Methodist Church, 1517 West McDermott Drive in Allen, Texas.
