"Pioneer Resident Dies in Wisconsin Zelotes DeLong was born near Port Hope, Ontario, September 3, 1823, and died at the residence of his son, Alcenes near Delton, Wisconsin April 3, 1909, aged eighty five years and seven months Mr. deLong spent his early life in the vicinity of Port Hope, March 31, 1849, he was married to Miss Harriet Peterson who survives him.

In 1851 they removed to St. Charles going by boat around the lakes, and St. Charles has been their home during most of the intervening time. Mr. DeLong was a carpenter and many buildings in or near St. Charles and Elgin were erected by his aid or under his supervision.

In the spring of 1888 he took a severe cold which terminated in rheumatic lung fever and he never regained his former activity, although working at his trade occasionally. After a severe attack of la grippe, he contracted bronchitis, which coupled with his advancing age caused his death.

The burial was at Delton. (Delton is a village located on the Wisconsin River in Sauk County, Wisconsin.)

During recent years Mr. and Mrs. DeLong have made their home in Elgin, coming to Wisconsin in August, 1907.

Beside a widow, he leaves a family of two sons and four daughters, Alcenes DeLong of Delton, Wisconsin; Mrs, S. Veale of DeKalb; Mrs. J. J. Meenagh of Elgin, Adelbert DeLong, Mrs. U. S. Elliott, and Mrs. E. G. Dailey of Kibourne(sic), Wisconsin.
