Madge married Edward Herdon on August 17, 1940 in West Plains, Missouri. They shared 61 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, a son and a daughter. She served as a song director, sunday school teacher, bible school teacher and was the church treasurer for 21 years. She loved gardening, growing flowers and playing dominoes at the Senior Center.

Her advice comes from scripture: "Honor thy father and mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." All of the 13 children in her family claimed that promise.
