Funeral Tuesday at Edinburg Christian Church – Burial in Rest Haven Cemetery
The Rev. David Oscar Coy, age 76, died Saturday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. L.A. Wirey. He had been seriously ill for several weeks. Mr. Coy had resided with his sister for the past four years.
Funeral services will be held at the Edinburg Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services will be in charge of the Rev. E. E. Aldrich, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church, Mr. Coy's pastor for the past four years, assisted by the Rev. Ray Bozell, a member of his own conference.
Burial will be made in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wirey home south of Franklin any time before noon Tuesday.
Mr. Coy was born in Bartholomew County, June 12, 1859. For forty-five years he served as pastor in the Christian Church. He retired from active work in the ministry following the death of his wife, Dolly Stillabower Coy, in Nov., 1930.
Surviving are the sister, Mrs. Wirey, with whom he made his home, and three brothers, John Coy, of Needham; William and Ira Coy, of Edinburg.

RETIRED MINISTER, NATIVE OF THIS COUNTY, DIES IN FRANKLIN.
Edinburg, June 1 -- Rev. D. O. Coy, 75, formerly of Taylorsville and this community, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. L. A. Wirey, near Franklin Saturday evening following a short illness.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Franklin Christian church Tuesday with burial in Rest Haven here.
Mr. Coy was born in Bartholomew county June 12, 1859, to Matthew and Rebecca Coy and was married Dec. 23, 1884, to Miss Dolly Stillabower of this community. When a young man he was ordained a minister. He later moved to Lebanon where he held a pastorate at the Lebanon Street New Light Christian church for many years. His wife died in Lebanon. A few years ago he came to the home of his sister near Franklin where he has resided until his demise.
He is survived by three brothers and the sister, Ira and William Coy, both of Edinburg, and John Coy of Needham; several nieces and nephews.
