Bedford Citizen Dies At Garden City
Jasper Guy Merritt of Bedford, passed away January 20 at the home of his sister, Mrs Leroy Hildt of Garden City, Utah following a long illness.
Jasper was born June 9, 1900 at Bedford Wyoming and was the son of Samuel Alonzo and Mary Alice Miles Merritt. Most of his life has been spent in Bedford.
After the death of his father in 1922 he took over the running of the farm, and provided for his mother until her death, which took place in 1945. Since his mother's death he has been living with his sister, Mrs Larry Hildt of Garden City, Utah.
Jasper was always faithful to his church duties and took good care of his mother and was kind and thoughtful to everyone.
Funeral services for him were held in the Thayne church house January 23, at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of the Bedford Bishopric.

He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs Mary Pope, Ogden, Utah; Mrs Emma Marks, Salt Lake City; Adrian Merritt, Salmon Idaho; Mrs Mattie Sprague, Kennewick, Wash. Harvey Merritt Afton; Irene Colder, Garden City, Utah; Ben Merritt, Bedford; Mrs Maud Hedder, Calif.; Norman Merritt, Bedford; Mrs Fannie Hildt, Garden City, Utah and Venley Merritt, Mesa Arizona.
Jasper was laid to rest in the Bedford Cemetery.
