Betty Jean Hursey Smith, age 83, of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Smith was born on April 14, 1936, in Douglas, Georgia to the late Arthur Lott Hursey and Annie Belle Sears Hursey.

She was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Atlanta, Ga., A Para-professional at Satilla Elementary School, and served as President of American Legion Auxillary.

Survivors include: Sons: Joel Anthony Smith of Douglas, GA, William Mark Smith (Tracy) of Lithia Springs, GA. Grandchildren: Amanda Smith: Garrett Myers: Spencer Myers; Great-Grandchildren: Holden Myers: Avery Simpson; Sister-in-Law: Carolyn (Jimmy) Weeks of Douglas, GA, : Several Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by: Husband: Joel Thomas Smith, Father: Arthur Lott Hursey, and Mother: Annie Belle Sears Hursey.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Tanner Baptist Church with Rev. "Buddy" James Jordan officiating and Ron Adams delivering the Eulogy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 Pm at Sims Funeral Home.
