Mrs. Amanda Buchholz, Dies of Cancer of the Stomach

Mrs. Amanda J. Buchholz, aged 52, died at the home of her son, Charles Buchholz, at Albion, at 11:30 Tuesday night of cancer of the stomach and bowels. Mrs. Buchholz had been in poor health for several years, but the ailment did not become serious until in April.

During July she was taken to a Waterloo hospital, where an incision was made and the nature of the disease disclosed. Since she was able to leave the hospital she has been at the home of her son.

Mrs. Buchholz was Amanda Jane Thomas before her marriage. She was born at Clarksville, June 30, 1861, and she became the wife of Albert F. Buchholz Sept. 9, 1880. Mr. and Mrs. Buchholz lived in Sac and Butler counties until 1904, when they moved to Albion. There Mr. Buchholz died Nov. 10, 1904.

Mrs. Buchholz's mother, Mrs. Susan Thomas, of Albion, survives her daughter, as do one son, and four daughters. They are Charles A. Buchholz and Miss Birdella Buchholz, Albion; Mrs. Will Ackerson, Eldora; Mrs. Ira Ackerson, New Hartford, and Mrs. Otis Paul, Salem, S.D. One sister and three brothers also survive her. They are Mrs. Homer Wagner, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and S.L. Thomas, Sheldon; John E. Thomas, Albion; and Albert D. Thomas of Clinton. A brother-in-law, August Buchholz, lives with the family in Albion. Mrs. Buchholz was a member of the Friends church of Albion.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the Friends church at Albion. Burial will be in the Albion Cemetery.
