Albert F. Buchholz Dead at Albion From Ax Wound On the Head

Marchalltown, Nov 12. - Albert F. Buchholz died at the home of his wife's father, C.N. Thomas, in Albion, at 11:30 o'clock Thursday night from the effect of an injury to the skull made with an ax while he was splitting wood at New Hartford on September 6. Although an operation was performed ten days ago, it brought but temporary relief.

Mr. Buchholz was hurt while cutting wood by the ax which he was swinging catching on the clothes line under which he was standing. The blade descended, splitting a gash in the scalp four inches long, and penetrating the skull. A depression of the bone resulted, and blood clot formed, causing paralysis of the left side. The operation removed the blood and pressure from the skull, but did not bring permanent relief.

Mr. Buchholz was 54 years of age and was born in Germany. He came to this country in 1869, and married Miss Amanda J. Thomas, who survives him, on September 9, 1880. Besides the wife, he leaves five children, two brothers and a sister. He was removed to the home of Mrs. Buchholz's parents soon after he was injured. The body will be take to New Hartford Saturday morning for the funeral and internment.
