Mary was a daughter of Rolla and Sarah Jane Lowry Peckinpaugh. She moved to Rulo Nebraska with her mother in 1872, and married Samuel S. Price in 1872. They later moved to Santa Barbara, CA. in 1883. Samuel is buried in Calvary cemetery, in Santa Barbara.

Mrs. Mary M. Price, prominent resident of Santa Barbara, and Mother of Francis Price, well-known local attorney, and of Mrs. Dwight Murphy, passed away last evening in her home at 2430 State Street. She was 77 years of age.
Born in Ohio in 1853, she spent her girlhood in that state, coming west in 1882, some time after her marriage. Her husband was the late S.S. Price, who became one of the prominent attorneys of Santa Barbara, serving as district attorney in the early 80s. He passed away in 1901.
Mrs. Price was well known in social circles of early Santa Barbara but in later life led a retired life. She was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, and had been a most active worker in its ranks over a period of years.
Besides her son and daughter here, both of whom are prominent in the city, she leaves a daughter Mrs. Edith S. Barnes of Los Angeles. Another son, the late Joseph J. Price of Santa Barbara, died in 1908.
There are five grandchildren living. Miss Ailene S. and Miss Alma F. Barnes of Los Angeles, and Marjorie Murphy and Francis Price Jr. and Barbara Price of Santa Barbara.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock in the home on State Street and will be private. Committal in Santa Barbara Cemetery, under the direction of Charles T. Holland will also be private.
