Daniel M. "Dan" Pfeifer, 101, died March 18, 2007, at St. John's Nursing Home, Victoria.

He was born Feb. 16, 1906, north of Toulon, the son of Michael J. and Anna Lang Pfeifer.

He had attended St. Benedict's in Atchison for a year and then attended Hays Catholic College, graduating in 1925. A resident of Victoria, formerly of Hays, he managed the Hays Co-op for 37 years. He belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree and 4th degree Bishop Cunningham Assembly, and was a member of Hays Rotary Club, all in Hays.

On May 17, 1927, he married Albina Dreiling in Victoria. She survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Wilbert, Hays, Daniel and Joseph, both of St. Louis, and James, Austin, Texas; two daughters, Rose Ann James, Albuquerque, N.M., and Susan Marie Hass, Arvada, Colo.; a brother, Aloysious, Toulon; 29 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers Emmanuel, Albert, Bernard and Simon, two sisters, Amelia Vonfeldt and Anna O'Brien.
