He married Mary Mae (Windholz) on Oct. 25, 1939, in Victoria. She preceded him in death Dec. 9, 2005.
He was a farmer, a dairyman for 32 years and a contract pumper for 35 years. He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria.
Survivors include a son, Al F. Pfeifer and wife, Sue, Hays; a daughter, Betty Ann Befort and husband, Jerry, Hays; three granddaughters, Tamie Dragone, Dana Augustine and husband, Patrick, and Misty Shepker and husband, Matt; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Daniel M., Emmanuel, Albert M., Bernard and Simon; and two sisters, Amelia Vonfeldt and Anna O' Brien.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to St. Fidelis Church, or Masses in care of the mortuary.

60th Wedding Anniversary:
Mr. and Mrs. Alois Pfeifer will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today, Oct. 24, 1999, with a Mass at the St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, followed by a luncheon at the Vagabond Restaurant, Hays.
Hosts for the occasion are their children, Jerry and Betty Befort, and Al and Sue Pfeifer, along with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
