Robert Eugene Auten, 85, of Lovington, passed away 3:26 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at French Cemetery, Allenville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Saturday at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan.
Robert was born May 24, 1935, in Lovington; the son of Vincent and Beulah Auten. He married Marcia Perry in 1956; she preceded him in death in 2008. He later married Carole Auten on September 18, 2010; she survives. He retired from Tate and Lyle (A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company). Robert was a member of the First Church of God in Lovington. He loved his flower garden and was an avid CUBs fan. Robert was well liked and loved by many.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Auten of Sullivan; son, Gary Auten of Clinton; step-son, Steve Auten of Winchester; step-daughter, Cheryl Auten-Nunley of Mahomet; brother, Dick Auten of Indiana. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Marcia, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
