Margery graduated from Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Georgia in 1925. She taught school at the Wen Hwei School at Teng-Chow, China from 1931 until closed because of the onset of WWII, under the direction of the Presbyterian church. The 1940 US census shows her living in New York city, employed as a secretary for the Philanthropic Club, and residing in Penglai (formerly Dengzhou/Tengchow), Shandong, China. Margery died following a short illness. She was a member of the Board of Christian Colleges in China during her last year.
