MARGARET CHRISTINE MAASSEN, 90, of Council Bluffs, died Saturday, Feb. 8th, at Josie Harper Hospice House, in Omaha. A Private family Memorial Service for MARGARET MAASSEN will be held 10:30-a.m. Tue., Feb. 11th, at the Pauley-Jones Funeral Home, in Avoca.

Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Avoca at a later date.

MARGARET CHRISTINE MAASSEN is survived by:

Her daughters – Sharlene McGlynn, of Richland Center, WI., & Kristie (John) Denne, of Council Bluffs.

Her sisters – Peg Cvejdlik, of Carter Lake, and Kay Havick, of Harlan.

4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Obituary for Margaret Christine Maassen
Margaret Christine Maassen, was one of ten children born to her parents, Rudy and Grace (Garrison) Schueman, on April 20, 1929 in Avoca, Iowa. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in Avoca.

Margaret met Robert William Maassen when he returned home from WWII and were united into marriage on April 13, 1949. They had two daughters: Sharlene and Kristie.

She was known for her baking; apple pies, cinnamon rolls and homemade jam to name a few. She loved to embroider quilts, spend time with her family; including her children, grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She also loved to travel. She and Robert spent winters in Tuscan, Arizona for over 25 years.

Margaret passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska having attained the age of ninety years, nine months and nineteen days. In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Bernice Green, Frank, James, Walter, George, John and Denny; sons-in-law Allan Kite and Tim McGlynn.

Left to cherish her lifetime of memories are her daughters Sharlene McGlynn of Richland Center, Wisconsin; Kristie (John) Denne of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren Chad (Shelly) McGlynn of Spring Green; Wisconsin; Ryan (Rachel) McGlynn of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; Alex (Jess) Kite of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Anna Kite of Council Bluffs, Iowa; great grandchildren Katie, Nathan, Alisha, Olive, Violet and Hazel; sisters Peg Cvejdlik of Carter Lake, Iowa; Kay Havick of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
