Mrs. Bertha Presley “Nanny” Manis, 92, of Hawkins County, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at her home in Bean Station, TN.

She lived most of her life in Hawkins County. Bertha was a member of Phipps Bend Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey Manis; granddaughter, Wendy M. Armstrong; grandson, Gregory Mabe; one great –great grandchild; parents, Arthur and Nelia Presley; brothers, Chester, Jim, Jess, Carson, Charlie and Billy Presley; sisters, Eva McNally, Hattie Presley and Dorothy McNally.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, James (J.C) Manis; son, Albert C. Manis; grandchildren, Carman Harold and husband, Brian, Rhonda Brownlee and husband David, Andrew (Andy) Cradic and wife Amanda, Christian (Chris) Manis and wife Susan, Melanie Robertson and husband Eric, Amber Lathem and husband Ryan, and Carson Manis and wife Audrey; twenty –three great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; sister, Edith Case; brother, Kyle Presley; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family of Bertha Presley “Nanny” Manis will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Monday, February 10, 2020, at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Chris Castle and Rev. Jessie Hartgrove officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, in the Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Carter Brownlee, David Modzelewski, Arron Modzelewski, Jessee Modzelewski, Carson Manis and Chris Manis.
