Dian Fry, 62 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, February 3, 2020 in Woodward.

Diannia Lynn (Akin) Fry was born on June 14, 1957 in Belen, New Mexico to Charles Donald Akin and Jane Ellen Snyder. She grew up and attended school in Belen before eventually moving to and attending school in Waynoka, Oklahoma. She married Charles (Chuck) McManis on February 19, 1973 in Belen, New Mexico. To this union, one son, Robert, was born. They lived in New Mexico for a short time before moving to Oklahoma. She married Michael (Mike) Fry on December 12, 1981. They lived in Waynoka and Texas for a time before ultimately settling in Woodward, Oklahoma.

Dian was a wiz with numbers and ledgers and worked as a bookkeeper during the oil boom of the early 1980's before moving to Texas where her and Mike owned and operated the Levelland Credit Bureau. Once they returned to Oklahoma, Dian again was employed as bookkeeper where she worked for Super Star Wash for almost 30 years. Before retiring, she worked from home doing bookkeeping and taxes for several local businesses.

Dian had flare for creativity and enjoyed many crafts including macrame, ceramics, sewing, and cooking among others. She was a phenomenal cook who wowed many with her dishes and made sure to keep her family and friends well fed. Other hobbies included collecting decorative shoes and hats as well as frequenting garage sales where she was always on the lookout for a great bargain.

Anyone that knew Dian well knew how much she loved animals. She often donated to animal rescues and animal shelters and was also known to take in rescues of her own. While she loved them all, from horses and horny toads to turtles and turkeys, none were as special to her as her beloved fur babies. She was photographed with her beloved dogs as much as anyone and was typically beaming as she cradled them all.

Dian found the most joy in her family who loved her dearly. She is survived by her husband, Mike, of the home; son, Robert McManis and wife Tammy of Edmond; daughter Kem Cottrill of Woodward; grandchildren: Chase, Mackenzie, Colby Reese, and Connor McManis; Megan Garrick, Lindsay Riojas and husband Abraham, and Jarred Taylor; seven great-grandchildren; mother Jane Bergen, and husband Shelly of Waynoka; sisters Valerie Bussett and husband Bob of Iowa, Donna Akin of Tennessee, and Charlette Akin of New York; and special friends Kelly Lemon and Chuck McManis, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Charles Akin, brother Danny Akin, and grandparents Leslie and Reta Snyder.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WOOF Pet Rescue Society, Inc. in Woodward with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
