Charles served in the US Air Force at the Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh, New York and also worked as a non-commission officer. Charles was a member of several clubs including the American Legion, VFW and The Loyal Order of the Moose.
He was married about 1958 to Lillian L Bryan (1940-2000), the daughter of Charles Russell Bryan (1908–1984) and Onie (Guthrie) Bryan (1913–1987) of Newburgh, New York.
Still living in Clarksville, Charles was 83 years old and a widower when he passed away at home on Thursday, August 1, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son Danny Lee Akin, an infant brother Ethridge Lynnwood Akin (1933–1935), sister Chloe Jean (Akin) Ross (1931–2006) and by his brother-in-law Robert Roy Ross Sr (1927–2015). Survivors included three daughters and a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at Gateway Funeral Home, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville.
