Kelli Sue Petersen, age 65, of Kearney, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society – Saint Luke’s in Kearney after a short battle with cancer.
Kelli was born March 9, 1954 in Kearney to Doug and Jo Anne Jones and graduated from Kearney High School in 1972. As a youth she competed with the Kearney swim team and worked as a lifeguard at Harmon Park. She attended Kearney Beauty Center and received a cosmetology license. She then worked at Kearney Beauty Center, Aphrodite Salon and the Henderson Beauty Shop as well as the hair salons at Saint Luke’s, Homestead and Cambridge Court. She married Arlen Petersen on August 19, 1978 in Kearney. The lived in Henderson, NE. for a year before moving back to Kearney.
Kelli is survived by her daughter, Amanda Bowman and granddaughter, Kaylee of Kearney; sister Cindy Pope of Ravenna; and brother Scott Jones of Kearney.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 16, 2017, her parents, grandparents and in-laws.
