Gladys Pitts Foster, 85, of the 1000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, and formerly of Norfolk, died April 4, 1996, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mrs. Foster, the widow of "Dock" Foster, was a retired LPN with Dr. William D. Payne. She was a native of Tappahannock, Va., and a member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk.

Survivors include a son, Richard C. Foster of Norfolk; a sister, Ruby Stone of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Robin Woodell. Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, is in charge.
