Victor Noel Mitchell, 79 of Panola, OK, died Thursday, January 23, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Jones-Harkins Funeral Home Chapel officiated by James Mitchell with assistance from Rev. Richard Boggs and Richard Poulan. Burial will follow at Baldwin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Cory Saltzgiver, Seth Ezekiel, Cade Ezekiel, Josiah Mitchell, Reece Mitchell, and Matthew Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Israel Beauchamp, Levi Beauchamp, Brittney Long, Charity Titsworth, Kenzie Ezekiel, Peyton Ezekiel, and Gage Charles.
Victor was born September 28, 1940 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Wanda and Cub Slater. He graduated from Panola High School in 1959.
Victor married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Battles, on November 14, 1958 in McAlester.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator constructing pipe-lines from Alaska to New Jersey and Minnesota to Texas. In the past, Victor pastored a non-denominational church at Salonia, OK and served as a Chaplain for the Latimer County Sheriff’s Department.
When he wasn’t working around the property, Victor enjoyed being with his family, grandchildren, fishing and welding.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents: Cub and Wanda Slater and his adoptive parents, Les and Agnes (Colvard) Mitchell; daughters: Velina Beauchamp and Shannon Ezekiel and father-in-law and mother-in-law: R. C. and Priscilla Battles.
