Hartz Funeral Rights to be held Sunday.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 28 from the farm home at 2 p.m. and from city hall, Cavalier, at 2:30 p.m for Alfred Hartz, Sr. who died Monday June 22, at 9:45 p.m. at the Grafton Deaconess Hospital, following an illness of 12 1/2 years. . Mr. Hartz was confined to the Grafton Hospital for the past two years. His death was due to a heart aliment and complications.
Mr. Hartz was born in Austria, February 7,1862. He spent his early life in Austria. Later he came to Canada, making his first stop at Winnipeg, He came to America in November 1890 and to Pembina County in 1893 making his home on a farm south of Cavalier where he lived until his death.
June 15 1884 he was married to Barbara Steiger at Nesselrod, Russia, and to this nine children were born all of whom survive.
Mr. Hartz was the last living Member of a family of five children. He was township supervisor for five years. Many years of his live life were spent with the Evangelical and Pentecostal churches. Surviving are h is wife and following daughters and sons Mrs. Elisabeth Restemayer, Mrs. Mary Schroeder, John, Jacob and Mrs. Lydia Elgert and Edward Hartz of Cavalier, Alfred of Grafton: Ernest and Caroline of Los Angeles, Calif.
Active pallbearers: R. McKechnic, H. Morden, Miles Bechiel, H. B. Lesher, R.F. Busch, Harvey Restemayer.
Honorary pallbearers: August Moritz, P. Freschett, John Burke, John Mnthieson, Cyrus Bechel, A. Steinbach.
Burial will be in the Cavalier cemetery. Rev. Clarence Larson. Pastor of Cavalier Gospel Tabernacle was assisted by Rev E J Schroeder, Pastor of the local Evangelical church.
