Charles C. Kennedy, 94, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014. He was predeceased by his wives, Oleene Janie Howell Kennedy and Ruby Kessler Kennedy. Charles was the the last of 8 children born to William and Roxie Hall Kennedy. He served faithfully in the United States Navy during World War II, retired from the Norfolk & Southern Railway as the supervisor of vehicles after 35 years of devoted service. Charles was a lifelong member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. He is survived by his son, Robert W. Kennedy of Hardy, Va.; grandson, Robert Todd Kennedy and his wife Kristen; great-grandson, Hilton Craig Kennedy; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Roanoke Times
