Born in Alma, GA his parents were Oden Carter and Susie Morgan Carter. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Lott; and 4 siblings, Gerald Carter, Maudene Shuman, Newlene Johnson, and Vestal Rainwater.
Olen was retired from the United States Army and a member of Philippian Worship Center in Hoboken. He also was a retired truck driver for Winship Transportation and loved to watch Westerns.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Vannie "Iris" Griffin Carter of Hoboken;
3 sons and a daughter-in-law,
Keith Carter,
Brian Carter and
Glynn Carter (Kimberly) all of Hoboken;
4 grandchildren,
Devon Carter (Sandy), Blake Carter, Kaylyn Knox (Kaleb) and Ashley Turner (Tony);
4 great grandchildren,
Ashton Cox, James Cox, Kamden Knox and Auriegh Turner;
a brother and sister-in-law,
Johnny Carter (Louise) of Belview, FL;
and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning (January 18, 2020) at 11am at Philippian Worship Center in Hoboken with Rev. Glynn Carter and Rev. Randall Gunter officiating.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
