Virginia (Johnson) Monks was born in Quinton, Oklahoma on February 16, 1940 to Emzy and Ethel (Manning) Johnson. She passed away on January 9, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 79.

She is survived by:

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Monks; her parents, Emzy and Ethel Johnson; and her sisters, infant Jesse Ellen Johnson, Vera Glenn, Esther Stallard, and Tennie Ruth Tevis.

Virginia married Wesley Monks on December 4, 1959. She lived most of her life in the Quinton area. She graduated from Quinton High School. She lived a life of service for others. She was known in her community and wherever she went as a most caring and loving person. She was a Real Estate Broker, Quinton Tag Agent and Income Tax Preparer. She attended Greater Refuge United Pentecostal Church. She played the piano and taught Sunday school for many years. She was affectionately called “Ginger” by her Johnson family and “Virginia” by the Monks’ family and her friends.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Greater Refuge United Pentecostal Church in Quinton with Rev. George Mantooth and Colorado UPCI District Superintendent Rev. Marney Turpin, officiating. Interment will follow at Quinton City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Viewing will be at Mallory Chapel in Quinton from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday and from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Monday; with Family Visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
