Larry R. Landon, 57, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
He was born in Garden City on July 2, 1950, to Bob L. and Faith (Fulton) Landon. On Jan. 16, 1971, he married Cindy J. Towles in Garden City.
Mr. Landon grew up with his family on the family farm near Deerfield and attended Deerfield schools, graduating from Deerfield High School in 1968. He attended Kansas State University for two years.
In 1972, he and his wife moved to Washington, D.C., where he attended Southeastern University. He later graduated from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City with a bachelor's degreee in business.
While living in Washington, D.C., he worked as a fingerprint examiner for the FBI. Landon and his family moved back to Garden City in 1975, and he began working with Wallace & Anderson accounting firm. He started working again on the family farm in 1978.
He later managed heavy equipment companies and fertilizer plants in the Garden City area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports and attending his daughters' sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Landon.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Jennifer Kollman, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Heather Strandmark, Garden City, and Brooke Landon, Wichita; his parents; two sisters, Dixie Renstrom, Kalvesta, and Victoria Thomas, Garden City; and one granddaughter.
Rosary is 7 p.m. today at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Dominic, with the Rev. Joseph Bahr officiating. Burial is in Valley View Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon to 6 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
Memorials are suggested to Kansas University Medical Center Department of Hematology Oncology or to Garden Valley Retirement skilled nursing, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St.
