Ruthe Wuest Foster

Ruthe W. Foster died peacefully September 7, 2012 in Pinehurst, NC. She was born on November 3, 1924 the eldest of two brothers, Ralph and Roland Wuest to the late Catherine Sorgento and Roland Wuest of Metuchen, NJ. She was married to the late Kenneth Foster on August 10, 1943 while Mr. Foster was serving the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant.

Mr. and Mrs. Foster moved to Indianapolis, IN where their children grew up and where Mr. Foster became a partner in the law firm Ice, Miller, Donadio and Ryan. Mrs. Foster graduated from Butler University where she was elected to join Phi Beta Kappa Academic Society.

Mrs. Foster was devoted to her family of three children, five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is survived by one brother, Roland Wuest of Summerton, SC. Ruthe loved the New Jersey shore. Along with Ken, they bought and restored several homes in Avalon, NJ. Those homes served as family gathering places for many years.

Ruthe moved to Princeton after Avalon and enjoyed working at Princeton University for the School of International Studies. Prior to the Avalon years, she worked at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where she was awarded her own chair as recognition of her contributions to the School of Foreign Service.

Her children are Kenneth (Kathy) Foster, Jr. Chevy Chase, MD; Michael (Susan) Foster Pinehurst, NC; and Dana Foster of Bar Harbor, Maine. Grandchildren are Kara Foster Demetris; Kenneth Foster, III; Samuel Sicchio III, Elizabeth McKenny and Matthew Sicchio.

Interment was at the Foundry Methodist Church in Washington, DC.
