Mr. Kortz was a graduate of Reildand High High School. He was a retired Maintanence Mechanic for Union Carbid and a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Mr. Kortz was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict and was a Cold War Patriot.
Mr. Kortz is survived by his daughter, Patty Hughes and husband, Alan of West Paducah; his son, Gary Kortz and wife, Sheila of Paducah; four grandchildren, Clay Hughes (Kelly), Evan Hughes (Taylor), Kevin Kortz and Kendal Kortz; two sisters, Doris Scheer of Paducah and Ethel O’Neil of Arlington, KY; three brothers, Charles Kortz of Paducah, Earl Kortz of Paducah and Richard Kortz of Owensboro, KY; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVell Barron Kortz; a sister, Mary Catherine Wurth. His parents were, Frank William and Mary LaVada Wurth Kortz.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Brad Whistle officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. The Rosary will be said at 4:45 p.m.
