Jacob Diehl died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Jacob Ricker at Galt on Friday, January 7, 1898. The funeral occurred at Galt on Saturday and the remains were interred at Riverside cemetery.

Mr. Diehl served three years in the late war and was granted an honorable discharge. He was not married.

Surviving were three brothers, Daniel of Grundy Center, Iowa, Louis of Clark, South Dakota, and Adam of Round Grove, and one sister, Mrs. Manuel Carolus of Sterling.

He would have been 54 years old on November 28, 1898.
