Also surviving are three children, Brad (Debbie) Thurman of Bradenton, FL, Marcia (Kenny) Frew of Buckeye, AZ, and Cathy (Steve) McKown of Dunlap, IL; seven grandchildren, Bradley (Larissa) Thurman, Courtney Thurman, Randi (Jim) Shaffer, Tyler (Savannah) Frew, Emily (Matt) Beach, Jacob McKown, and Jared McKown; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Sophie Shaffer; and one sister, Mary Page of Granbury, TX.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Arnold, Donald, Lee, Bill, and David Wake, one sister, Margie Lou Plumer, and one grandson, Todd Frew.
Judy’s gift at the piano was recognized at a young age and she was playing for church services by age 13, and as an adult studied to learn the organ. She served others with her gift the rest of her life, playing for churches, high school musicals, weddings and celebrations of life.
In addition to raising a family and sharing her gift of music, Judy worked full time most of her life in various positions as a bank teller, secretary, travel agent and bookkeeper.
Judy had the gift of hospitality and she loved cooking special meals for family and guests. She will especially be remembered for her baking at the Holidays.
She grew up attending the First Baptist Church in Farmington and has attended Coal Creek Bible Church for many years.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Yates City Cemetery in Yates City, IL. Jacob Tourtillott will officiate. A meal and time of fellowship will follow at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Yates City. Memorials can be made to the Fairview Fire and Rescue or Coal Creek Bible Church.
