Helen Louise Heberlein, 95, life resident of NE Colorado, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. She was born April 12, 1924, in Mildred, CO to John & Lillie (Morris) Thomas.

Helen lived in Yuma County for several years before moving to Washington County, near Lindon, for several years. She later moved to Akron where she lived until she moved to Brush to live at the assisted living center at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Shirley Wise and Bob Bruce of AZ; Margie (Gene) Hottinger of Akron; Darrel (Patty Adolf) of Greeley, CO; Connie (Tarry) Cluff of Brush; Merry Heberlein (Bob Thornton, deceased) of University Place, WA; and Patty Heberlein, and George Meacham) of Evans, CO; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 6 great – great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Smelser, Bill Adolf, and Louis J. Heberlein; 3 children, Charles Smelser Jr., John Andrew Adolf, and Dennis Lee Adolf; 1 grandchild, Joseph Smelser; 17 brothers & sisters, and her parents. Helen was the last surviving of all 18 siblings.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019, at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brush. Concluding service and interment will follow at the Akron Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel on Brush on Friday, December 27, from 2 – 4 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Children’s Hospital in Aurora, CO c/o the Heer Mortuary.
