Benjamin T. (Ben) Bowie, 71, of 100 Donnybrook Avenue, Sans Souci, died at his home at 12:05 p.m. yesterday after a sudden attack.

Born June 24, 1890 in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Jacob and Essie Loner Bowie. He lived in Abbeville until he came to Greenville 25 years ago. For 42 years until he retired, he was connected with Fiske-Carter Construction Company.

He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Etta Upton Bowie of the home; 5 daughters, Mrs. Edward Darnell (Mildred) of Manchester, New Hampshire, Mrs. Charles Braun (Frances) of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Paul Durham (June) and Mrs. Raymond Hatcher (Joy) of Greenville and Mrs. Richard Thompson (Peggy) of Fargo, North Dakota; 2 sisters, Mrs. Corrie Kay of Pelzer and Mrs. Maude McKinney of Greenwood, and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home by the Rev. A. Boyd Turner and the Rev. B. E. Humes. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Louis Morgan, James Kay, Roy Kay, R. L. Upton Jr., Paul Edward Bowie, and Robert Leppard.

The body is at the funeral home.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Paul Durham, 120 Woodland Drive.
