Mary Angeline Freeman West, age 84, passed away on December 6th, 2019 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She was born on March 1st, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to Wimberly C and Alma T Goodman. Angeline was raised in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas and graduated as Salutatorian from Sunset High School in 1953, the same school she served beginning at 3 years of age as the official mascot of the Sunset Bisonettes.

After attending Baylor University for a short time, Angie was married to Jack L Freeman in 1954 and had three sons: Jay, Clay and Matthew Freeman. After her first marriage ended, Angie met and married the love of her life, William C West, in 1993. Her family grew with the addition of her beloved step-children, Lorraine West Henery, James R West II and Judy L West Rogers. For decades, Angie was a much loved clerk at the U.S. Passport Office in downtown Dallas. Angeline grew up as a member of The First Baptist Church in Dallas. She went on to spend many years as an active member of Woods United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas where she sang in the choir.

From the moment she was born, Angie had one overriding passion in her life… horses. As a young girl, she wheedled her father into buying her first horse and she never looked back. This is not to say that she neglected any of the other creatures God placed on this earth… the list of animals in her life is simply too long to compile. In addition to the multitude of dogs and cats, she owned and cared for donkeys, turtles, fish, goats, snakes, chickens, jackrabbits… and that’s just to name a few.

But nothing held a place in her heart like her horses. She rode competitively in hundreds of events and shows, was a member of an equestrian drill team and took part in countless parades and presentations. From her grade riding horses to the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racers, from the Cutting horses to her precious Miniatures to her beloved Arabians, Angie loved them all. And everyone around her, family and friends alike, found themselves swept along with her on this ride.

Angeline is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wimberly Goodman Jr and his wife Billie. Her brother Edward Goodman and his wife Eva and her sister Margaret Goodman Hogue and husband Ray. Most difficult for Angie has been her life these last three years without her husband Bill.

Angeline is survived by her son Jay Freeman and his wife Rani. Her son Clay Freeman, his wife Dyann and family. Her son Matthew Freeman and family. Her step-daughter Lorraine Henery and family. Her step-son Jimmy West and family. And her step-daughter Judy Rogers, her husband Jim and family. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews… all who know that Angie and Bill are now on their horses side by side, holding hands, riding off into the sunset.
