Barbara Block, age 78 of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday, July 29th.

Barbara was born in Anthon, Iowa to Harold and Verna Bartlett. When she was seven the family moved to Vallejo, California. When she was 15 years old, Barb met someone who would forever be there, Robert J Block.

Barb and Robert got married May 25th, 1957. They were married for 60 years when she passed.

Barb had a love for education, when she was 40 she graduated with her Master's degree from Western Washington University. She went on to have a long career in Children's Protective Services. She was always well liked by the children she worked with.

Next to her love of education, Barb had many passions. The ocean, her obsession with the Royal family and any information she could get on WW2. These things made her very happy.

Barb and Roberts travels were extensive, they were able to visit 42 counties. One of those being to Germany, it was a special one for them both.

They went on to have four children. Brenda Block, Joyce Block Pino, Robert J Block, and Richard J Block.

Barb celebrated her life by having seven grandchildren Nicole Block Leger, Joshua Pino, Jeremiah Pino, Caitlin Lemus, Justine Pino, McKenzie Block, and Meghan Block.

Barbara also had eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Leger, Samantha Leger, Michael Leger, Isabella Lemus, Emory Pino, Donovan Lemus, Athena Block, and Grady Pino.

She loved having any of us over the visit.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Verna Bartlett, her sister Joyce Shepard, her brother Douglas Bartlett, her daughter Brenda Block, and her son Robert J. Block.

She is survived by her brother Dennis Bartlett.
