Benoni Paxton Wood, illegitimate, yet claimed, son of George Wood, an early pioneer and one of the founders of Borden, Indiana, was born on January 4, 1791, in Louisville, Kentucky. Benoni was raised by George and his later wife, Mary Burge Wood. Benoni fought in the Battle of Tippecanoe. He married Priscilla Sullender on February 7, 1814. They had at least four children during their marriage. Benoni worked as a carpenter and a farmer. He died on April 9, 1844, at the age of 53.
