Enos was thought to be dead after a battle and his body was placed on a pile of dead soldiers. Someone walked past him and saw a tear coming from his eye. The man said to take his body off the pile because he was still alive. A steel plate was put in his head where he was injured, and it remained there the rest of his life. He said that when he saw Texana Haile singing in the church choir, that she was the one he was going to marry!
