He was born in Nelson County, July 24, 1914, a son of the late Clifton M. and Pearl Miller Dameron Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Willie Gray Dameron, May 14, 1972.
He is survived by seven sons, Junior Dameron of Charlottesville, Lewis E. Dameron with the U. S. Air Force in Stuttgart, Germany, James D. Dameron of Lynchburg, Roger L. Dameron of Bumpus, Paul D. Dameron of Crimora, Jerry D. Dameron of Fishersville and Robert W. Dameron of Afton; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley D. Wingfield, Mrs. Delores D. Lawhorne and Mrs. Judy D. Fitzgerald, all of Afton; one brother, Haywood Damron of Afton; six sisters, Mrs. Margaret Anderson and Mrs. Gladys Coffey, both of Afton, Mrs. Juanita Purvis of Waynesboro, Mrs. Catherine Propst of Lynchburg, Mrs. Dorothy Kent of Greenfield and Mrs. Helen Bodkins of Staunton; also 13 grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. today in the chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Dalton of Lynchburg, with burial in Rodes United Methodist Chruch Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Donald Gray, John Anderson Jr., Coy Anderson, Clifton Anderson, William Miller and Edward Miller.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Roberts, Richard Roberts, E. S. Fox Jr. and Garnett Hogan.
