Thelma Arlene Schofield Kennedy was born on December 28, 1937, daughter of William J. Schofield and Thelma Finley Schofield. She was raised in Ogden, Utah graduating from Ogden High. She later married into the military and traveled to several places, making her way back to Utah to settle down.
Arlene passed away on March 26, 2016 at her piece of paradise. While visiting her son in Colorado, she was excited every morning to see her “big boy” which was the deer that would come to eat out of her hand. She always had a way with animals, we often called her the animal whisperer. She enjoyed camping in the mountains of Utah with her friends and family. Arlene has always been surrounded by people who loved and cared about her. She seemed to make friends with anyone she encountered. She enjoyed playing bingo. She seemed to know when someone was getting close to winning, “I knew that honey!” is something we will always hear when playing bingo. Her luck was something to be envious of, Arlene could win at just about anything she put money on.
Arlene was very dedicated to the military. She would do anything for those who have served and are currently serving. She spent a lot of time helping anyone who needed it. She would cook a hot meal at least once a week for anyone who wanted company.
Alene is survived by her brother Larry Schofield of Utah. Her children, Van William Layman (Cheryl Layman) of Colorado, Ron Phippen of Wisconsin, Teresa A. Johnston (Elaine Johnston) of Utah, Diana Maurer (Jeff Maurer) of Delaware, Angela Renville (Brian Renville) of Utah, and 4 step children. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and husband Eugene Kennedy.
Arlene has been loved and will be greatly missed. We will remember the way she always greeted you with “Hi Honey, how we doing?” We will always carry her in our hearts and in everything we do. She was a beautiful person with a caring heart.
