Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Maple Street Baptist Church in Oxford with the Reverend Steve Cross officiating. Visitation will be held form 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Oxford Funeral Service Chapel in Oxford with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00. Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Diabetes Association and can be left at the Oxford Funeral Home 104 N. Sumner, Oxford, KS 67119. Darlene was born September 29, 1938 to Jesse and Florence May Gardener Simmons in Kay County, Oklahoma. Darlene graduated from Oxford High School in 1956. She was a homemaker who played the piano, sang, enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Darlene was united in marriage to Charles Raymond Hiltzman on December 17, 1955 in Oxford at the First Baptist Church. Darlene loved her family especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving to honor her memory is her husband Raymond Hiltzman of the home, son Marty Hiltzman of Wichita, daughter Kim White of Oxford, grandchildren Crystal Moore and husband Philip of Oxford, Megan White of Oxford, Jeremy White and wife Kari of Olathe, KS, Justin Hiltzman of Arkansas City, Kal White of Oxford, brothers; Verne Simmons of Wellington, Bob Simmons and wife Louise of Winfield, sister Freda Fry and husband Fred of Kingsland, TX, great-grandchildren Jailyn White and Faith Moore.
Preceding her in death are her parents, four sisters; Lucille Thoman, Thelma Biddle, Francis Curfman and Garna Rich, two brothers; Floyd Rader and Leonard Simmons.
