Ellen “Doll” Ricks, age 76, joined her husband and her heavenly father on December 01, 2019.

Ellen, known as Doll by her friends and Granny by her family and many others, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Carrollton, surrounded by family that loved here dearly. Her independence was taken by a stroke in May 2018, but her spirit and love for the Lord never wavered. Those who knew her couldn’t help but love her.

Doll was born Ellen Rebecca Abbey to Joseph and Elizabeth Abbey in Greenwood, MS, on September 15, 1943. Doll retired from Marshall Elementary School after working there for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John Abbey and Walter Abbey, two sisters, Mary “Missy” Boyles and Frankie Guest, a son, David Shaw, and her loving husband, James E “Jimmy” Ricks.

Her spirit is carried on by a brother, Dan Abbey and wife Barbara of Gulf Breeze, FL, a son, Jimmy Stewart “Bo” Ricks and wife Susan of Carroll County, and a daughter, Janna Stiles and husband Mark of Carrollton. She had ten “perfect” grandchildren and fifteen great - grandchildren.

Doll was a member of North Carrollton Baptist Church where she was a devoted servant of our Lord and Savior and served in many ways. Her knowledge of the Bible was exceptional and her Sunday School Class would often look to her for guidance.

Arrangements will be through Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS, with visitation on Tuesday, December 3, 12 p.m. with a remembrance service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

A special thanks to Sta-Home Health and Halcoyn Hospice for the heart felt care that was given.

Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
