Frances Diggs, 93, formerly of Morton, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
Frances was born on May 14, 1926 in Greene County, Ill., to Walter and Lillie (Walters) Richey. She married Billie Diggs on November 16, 1957 in Goodfield, Ill. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2009.
Surviving is her daughter, Lisa (Jay) Morrison of Niota, Ill; two grandchildren, Rachel (Trenton) Shuman of Hamilton, Ill., and Ryan Morrison of Niota,Ill; and two great-granddaughters, Jaydyn and Josie Shuman of Hamilton, Ill.
She is preceded in death by one son, John Diggs; one brother; and one sister.
Frances was a 1945 graduate of Carrollton High School and a 1946 graduate of Amber Beauty College in White Hall, Ill. She was a beautician from 1946 to 1961. After her children were grown, she ran a small daycare in her home.
She enjoyed gardening, and crafts of many kinds, especially crocheting. Frances was a lifetime member of the Morton Whirl-A-Ways Square Dance Club. She greatly enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Prior to her move to Sunnybrook Assisted Living, she was a member of the West Twin Grove Christian Church of Bloomington.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 29, 2019, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
Memorials may be made to Great River Hospice in West Burlington, Iowa or Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
