Obituary for Michael R. Gurney
Michael R. Gurney, 54, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was a 1975 graduate of Alliance High School where he completed the Auto Body program. Mike was the owner of Conrads Auto Recycling for 5 years. He was also an owner/operator truck driver, driving "over the road" and was most recently employed by AutoZone as a driver. Mike loved working with cars, competing in demolition derbies and racing his stock car. He enjoyed watching his hero Dale Earnhardt Sr. race the number 3 every weekend. Mike enjoyed fishing & hunting and was a member of the NRA. Mike was also an avid bowler, bowling in several leagues at Parkway Lanes, Christopher Columbus Lanes and the College Plaza. For his bowling he won several tournaments and awards. He is survived by his fiance Debbie Price of Alliance and his children Regena Mae (Tim) Clair and their daughters Lydia Mae and Timber Wynn, Michael Earl (Jamie Nott) and Dakota Ray, all of Alliance. He is also survived by his father, Gene A. Gurney of Sebring and his siblings Rhonda L. Curtis of Beloit, Lori A. (Matthew) Fagan, Kevin L. (Paula) Gurney and Kathy J. (Terry) Kunkle, all of Alliance; and several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Arlene M. (Toole) Gurney (October 21, 2002); his maternal grandmother, Lydia A. Toole (September 2, 2000); his maternal grandfather, Arlie A. Toole (1961); and paternal grandmother, Evelyn Kuntzman (November 20, 1985). Several aunts, uncles and cousins also preceded him.
