William Lewis Colman born in Maryland, (or Chillicothe Ohio) migrated to Texas after the Civil War. He was a Union Soldier with the Potomac Home Brigaide. He was a locomotive engineer with the I. & G.N. Railroad in Palestine Tx. His wife Martha is buried in San Angelo, Tx. According to Williams obit, he is buried in the East Hill cemetery Palestine Texas. P.B. Ezell was the undertaker. Gravesite should be next to his mother in law Susan Latham Brown. No marker. His Grandson Leroy had told me that the family looked over the entire cemetery. Williams last name is spelled Colman. Every record he signed with the city, state, church and railroad has the Colman spelling, not with an E. No death record was ever filed with Anderson Co. and the State of Texas. William died in 1921. The Palestine city hall once had record books showing who bought burial plots for the deceased. I remember seeing the large books and finding records showing James Colman Sr purchased a plot for William Colman in the city cemetery. Same area where Wm,s mother in law, Susan brown is buried.
