Willie Kirk Watkins, of Covington, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 87 years of age. Mr. Watkins honorably served his country in the United States Navy. A faithful member at The Church of Covington, he delighted in worshipping alongside his brother and sisters in Christ. After his retirement from Scientific Atlanta, Mr. Watkins pursued his passion for farming and raising cattle. His fondness for his animals was evident in the way he treated them like family. Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Pickett Watkins; parents, Willie Ralph and Clara (Kirk) Watkins; and sisters, Mary Faith Watkins Bryan, Opal Watkins Stokes, Daisy Watkins Lord Arnold.

Mr. Watkins will be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Juanita Kitchens and her lifelong friend, James Hughes; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Watkins will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2019, 12:30 P.M., in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor David Payne officiating. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, prior to his service, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.
