Our loving father and grandfather, Frederick James Mosel passed away on Sunday, November 17th at the age of 83.

Fred was born in the Petersburg Community to Walter and Lillie Reeh Mosel. He married Frances Allen on November 24, 1956 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Fred and Frances lived in Austin, Brady and Georgetown where they raised their 3 children. They enjoyed traveling and ranching together.

Fred worked at the University of Texas, SCM Corporation, IBM Corporation and retired from the Texas Department of Health with 22 years of state service. He and his wife also owned and operated a Sears Roebuck store in Brady, Texas. He also served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force for six years, active and reserve. Upon retiring, Fred worked part-time for 15 years as a county dispatcher for Gillespie County. He was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul, The American Legion and a member of the board at Herman Sons and St. Joseph’s Society. He loved art and was an accomplished artist.

Fred is survived by his children and son-in law. Felicia and Tim Gehm of Colleyville, Texas. Fran Stutts of Bryan, Texas. Fred Mosel Jr. of San Antonio, Texas. Three grandchildren: Lauren Zeek of Coppell, Texas, Austin Holt of Dallas, Texas and Charlie Stutts of Bryan, Texas.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Frances and three sisters: Norma Mosel, Annie Lange, and Mildred Wheatley.

Vigil services will be held Thursday afternoon at 6:00 P.M. in the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, with Deacon Pat Klein officiating.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, with Father Jean Baptiste officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Memorials in his name may be made to any Right to Life organization, St. Joseph’s Society or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Visitation for Mr. Mosel will be on Thursday afternoon from 5 to 7:00 P.M. and on Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. in the Schaetter Funeral Home.
