Cecil Rhodes died April 16, 1990, in Eureka at the age of 82. A native of Nevada City, he was a resident of Arcata. Mr. Rhodes came to Arcata from Fortuna in 1929. In 1951 he established the Arcata Concrete Products business. His main interest was his work and he enjoyed his garden and fruit trees. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joyce Rhodes of Arcata; two grandchildren, Cathy and Larry George of Redding; and his great-grandson, Ryan Tuttle of Redding. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Rhodes, in April 1987. Friends are invited to attend funeral services Friday, April 20, 1990, at 2 p.m. at Paul’s Chapel, Arcata, with the Rev. Gene Schandorff officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Larry George, Bruce Adams, Robert Waters, Mike Paskvan, Reese Cathey and Grady McConnell. Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Mortuary Chapels/Paul’s Chapel, Arcata, where friends may visit today until 5 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time.
