July 2006 - Passage. George H. Park died July 7, 2006 following a battle with cancer. He was born January 10, 1927 to George T. and Charlotte Barnes Park. He served a mission in Hawaii and served in the Navy during World War II. George married Sandra Nelson in the Salt Lake Temple. She died in 1988

George was also preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Amy Park, Charlotte Reynolds and Ora Rimington. He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Anderson, Bessie Park, and Shirley Reich.

George was a gentle, compassionate man with a quick sense of humor. As the only son in a family with six sisters, he described himself as "The thorn among the roses." His humor followed him through his illness. When greeted with, "It's good to see you," he would respond, "It's better to be seen than viewed."

Thank you, Uncle George, for the example you set and for the joy you brought to the lives of all of your nieces and nephews. Funeral services held Tuesday, July 11, 2006, 11 a.m. at the Sandy Canyon Rim Ward, 1050 E. Galena Dr., Sandy. --Published in Deseret News on July 10, 2006
